The process of building a custom home with Genesis was...fun! For the most part, we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was well managed from beginning to end and that's why it was ahead of schedule. We had heard of the nightmares that can happen from building a new home but we were impressed at how smooth everything went and how organized and well managed it went.

In terms of what I tell folks when I'm suggesting a custom homebuilder, is I stress the value. I tell them to go to Genesis because quality plus price equals value. To me, our home is a fantastic value. Thank you so much for making this a delightful experience.

Re: Genesis Custom Homes

We have known Tim and Pamela Powel for about ten years. We first became acquainted while attending the same church. Then we soon started attending a home fellowship group that they hosted in their home every couple of weeks. Tim also served our church (Summit Christian Center) as an Elder and with Pam members of the choir (Praise and Worship Team). You can expect from them the character and integrity you would hope to find and expect from faithful Christians.

Tim built our 3,600 ft² home about 4.5 years ago. Prior to that, we attended many Parade of Homes events and shopped custom spec homes to get some design ideas and square foot cost estimates for upscale custom homes in general. Tim had built some of the homes for the Parade of Homes event we attended. Tim and Pam also hosted some of their fellowship groups in homes he had recently completed. We discovered very quickly that Genesis Custom homes offered by far the best value home, with the assurance of working with someone we knew well and trusted.

Most if not all custom home builders use many at large available trades who must be managed well and held to a high standard. Tim and his personnel were frequently on our property making sure each trade keep up the high standards he and you would expect. Tim has been in and survived this business for about 15(???) years, during good times and bad. Tim Powell and Genesis Custom Homes built a new home for us in the River Crossing subdivision of Spring Branch in May of 2003.

My wife and I had never met Tim until the summer of 2002 when we bought our lot from him. I was pleasantly surprised that Tim was willing to sell us his personal lot outright, with no commitment to use him as a Builder. It was the first of many instances where Tim showed us that he wasn’t a hard sell Builder, which was quite refreshing.  At the time we were thinking of letting a friend of ours build our home but after spending some time with Tim and looking at his existing homes, we felt very comfortable in letting him build our retirement home. What attracted us to Tim were too many things to mention but here are just a few:

Though it took many months to finally settle on a set of plans, Tim never put us under pressure just to get a deal made. Also, there were many instances where he made suggestions on purchasing less expensive options, something that no other Builder I’ve ever worked with practiced. He clearly wanted to build us a house at the best possible value and was not interested in us running up a list of extras which he could make incremental income off of. Because of that, he was not a fan of change orders and the ones we had were charged at his regular rate. How often can you say that about a Builder?

As with any new home there are always unforeseen snags. In our case our existing home sold quickly which caused us to make some spontaneous requests of Tim and his staff. They were always very obliging.  Tim took pride in us building equity in our home before we even moved in and our first appraisal proved that. Once we moved in there were the usual punch list items that needed to be taken care of and Tim’s staff could always be relied upon to insure that these items were taken care of.  Anytime that I had a problem, repair or general concern Tim was readily available to help me resolve it, even after the one year limited warranty period. He clearly does not forget his customers once he closes a deal.  Building a new custom home is stressful enough without worrying about your Builder. That’s one worry we didn’t have with Tim and Genesis.

We have now lived in our home for 7 years and continue to be pleased with it. We feel blessed to have met Tim and are thankful that he came into our lives.  I would recommend him to others who would enjoy an experience like we had.

Tim,

Cindy and I have been wanting to write for a long time.  We want you to know that we think of you and the Genesis family every time we talk about the quality and beauty of our home.  Our experience was such a joy.  The care that you and your staff demonstrated was far above and beyond the call of duty.  It is hard to believe that last November marked our second year in our wonderful hill country home. 

Thanks to the quality of our home, our satisfaction grows.  We proudly tell everyone who our builder is!

This is a recommendation for Genesis Custom Homes and Tim Powell.  We have been working with Genesis Custom Homes for several years in building our Home on Canyon Lake, Tx. Mr. Powell successfully transformed what we wanted into Plans and began construction in September.  During construction I found that Mr. Powell was highly organized in scheduling the various crews, coordinating materials, keeping up with the change orders and was particularly good at redesigning and improving our home above and beyond what the plans called for as construction proceeded.  In working with Mr. Powell, we have found him to be a person of integrity and sound business practices. We have enjoyed a fine working relationship with him and his Company and really appreciate his personal attention to detail.

Quality is what we were most concerned with in selecting a builder, and it had to be someone that could be creative and imaginative in putting the latest technology in our home, as well as a builder that was experienced and had the network of people that would build our home skillfully and quickly.  After several years of searching many Open Houses for the right builder and home for us, we selected Genesis Custom Homes and were not disappointed.
